At UWF, the Division of Academic Engagement and Student Affairs doesn’t just make for a fun acronym D-A-E-S-A. It’s a community with a common mission of supporting students, faculty, staff, community members and each other!
The Division offers numerous opportunities throughout the year that promote ongoing learning, exchanging ideas, collaboration and social networking. These opportunities are coordinated by the Professional Development Committee, the New Staff Onboarding Committee and the Social Activities and Community Engagement Committee.

The University of West Florida displayed a strong performance in metrics measuring retention, median wages upon graduation and high-impact practices in the Florida Board of Governors’ 2023-24 performance-based funding model.
Shigeko Honda, has been awarded the prestigious Order of the Rising Sun, Silver Rays. Honda was recognized at an event on UWF’s Pensacola campus on April 1 which celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Japan House.
The University of West Florida has joined the eighth cohort of NASPA’s Culture of Respect Collective. The two-year program guides colleges and universities that have committed to ending sexual violence through an evaluation and action-planning framework
The Career Development and Community Engagement office (CDCE) at UWF has integrated AI into its staff training and started developing best practice documents for the use of AI in various career development appointments facilitated by its career coaches.
The University of West Florida has been selected to receive the 2024 Community Engagement Classification, an honor designated to 368 institutions nationwide by the American Council on Education and the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching.
The University of West Florida Educational Research Center for Child Development received a $1.6 million, four-year grant from the U.S. Department of Education to assist Pell-eligible and Pell-recipient student-parents with the costs of childcare.
UWF paid tribute to the Lunar New Year 2022 on Palafox Street in downtown Pensacola on Friday, Jan. 21. UWF’s Department of International Programs, Center for Asian Studies and Gallery Night partnered for The Lunar New Year Festival honoring the "Year of the Tiger."

The National Naval Aviation Museum, located in the Naval Air Station, takes visitors on a journey through aviation history, sharing stories of the brave men and women who have served this country.
