Skylab
Skylab Computer Lab (Room 504)

The Skylab computer lab, room 504, is on the 5th floor of the John C. Pace Library. The Skylab is an open computer lab for UWF faculty, staff, and students.
The Skylab computer lab contains:
- 26 student workstations
- Instructor's podium and workstation
- 75 inch TV
The computers must be accessed with a current Argonet username & password.
The computers in the lab include the same pre-installed software that is available on other library workstations. If your instruction session requires other specialized software, please note this in your request. Note: our ability to pre-install software will depend on how it is licensed.
Skylab's primary use is as a computer lab for students and as a Makerspace. Use as a classroom is secondary, as it disrupts students who consistently utilize the lab as their primary study/work area on campus.
Skylab reservations are only available when the 1st floor computer classroom is already booked. The lab is only reservable for computer/software instruction purposes. Classroom management in Skylab is solely the instructor's responsibility. Standing orders (recurring requests by the same group) cannot be accommodated. The Skylab is also a Makerspace. You must tolerate any noise created by other students working on school projects.
Groups can use the lab for other meeting purposes; however, it is an open lab, so you will have to share the space with others who want to use the computers.
Skylab MakerSpace (Rooms 519 and 511)
The Makerspace offers the use of 3D printers, basic hand and power tools. Additionally, room also has a variety of, electronics, diagnostic tools, and other equipment available. We have created a dedicated set of pages about the Makerspace. Check here for more information: SkyLab Makerspace.
The workstations in the Makerspace are equipped with Intel Core i9 13th-generation processors, NIVIDA commercial graphics cards, and 64 GB of RAM. Users who need this much computing power for research or 3D modeling/drafting purposes have priority in the Makerspace.
Training is required in order to utilize this area and makers are required to follow all safety procedures.
