As an esteemed colleague at the University of West Florida and for over twenty years, Dan served wherever he was needed both in the library and on campus committees, such as the Festival on the Green. Dan was passionate about managing and adding monographs to the library collections to support faculty research and student learning. Dan was an autodidact. For example, he taught himself various languages, how to read musical scores, and all about numismatics.
In memory of his remarkable life, Dan's colleagues and friends would like to honor Dan's belief in the pursuit of self-learning. Gifts to the Dan North Memorial Textbook Scholarship will carry his legacy of advancing the student’s knowledge through reading and studying. A notice will be sent to the University Libraries for each gift made in his memory, validating the tremendous impact he had on the collections of the University Libraries.
What better way to honor Dan's life than to continue his great work of giving. Once we have $5,000 in gifts and written pledges, we can begin making awards to our students.
To donate via check please write "Dan North Memorial / Library" on the memo line.
You can also donate online via the Division of University Advancement. Note - make sure you select "Library" in the Designation drop-down and indicate "Dan North Memorial" / Library in the "Tribute Gift" section. Thank you for considering this opportunity.
