Multipurpose Space (Reservable)

The Library Multipurpose Space, room 215, is located on the 2nd floor of the John C. Pace Library.

This room currently contains:

  • Seating for 48 with layout flexibility via fully mobile tables and chairs.
  • Instructor podium with microphone and speaker.
  • 70-inch LED display connected to a library-provided PC with standard software pre-loaded (e.g. Office suite, Zoom, etc.).

Once construction is complete the room will contain:

  • Seating for 48 with layout flexibility via fully mobile tables and chairs.
  • Campus standard and ADA-compliant podium that is height adjustable.  The podium will feature:
    • A 10” Crestron control panel will sit on top of the lectern and will have a digital-push button interface for controlling all aspects of the room equipment.
    • A Smart Podium interactive pen display will be located on the top of the lectern and will be the primary display for the presenter. The presenter can use digital ink on this display to create on-screen notes, annotate documents, etc.
  • One 86" SMART Board will serve as the primary room display.  An additional five 86" non-touch displays will surround the room.
  • Each display will be connected to a standalone PC. This will allow up to 6 groups of users to independently work on their screens. The AV system is fully bi-directional which means that an instructor could choose to push a student display to any (or all) of the other room monitors.
  • The room will have multiple microphones (ceiling-mounted, wireless, and podium-mounted). These microphones will feed their audio into the AV system and can be routed to the PC (for lecture capture or streaming) and/or to the 12-ceiling mounted room speakers to ensure that everyone in the room, no matter where they are seated, can hear clearly.
  • Ceiling-mounted camera with two switchable presets. One preset will be a zoomed-in view of the lectern, the other will be a wide-angle view that will capture a large portion of the front of the room including the 86” Smart Display. Like the microphones, this camera will also send its signal to the instructor’s PC for lecture capture or streaming.
