Internal Building Broadcast System

Being able to reach staff, faculty and students in classrooms, offices and buildings is a critical part of UWF's emergency notification strategy. In order to ensure we have this capability, UWF has begun installing an internal building broadcast system in campus buildings. During times of crisis, the Police Department will be able to broadcast information directly into classroom and office spaces in campus buildings. This method of communication will allow us to reach targeted audiences throughout campus in situations where traditional methods such as SMS texting, outdoor sirens, email and phone messages are ineffective. Presently, the system has been retrofitted in Buildings 4, 10, 11, 12, 13, 18, 20W, 21, 22, 32, 36, 37, 41 49, 51, 52, 54, 58A, 71, 72, 73, 74, 75, 76, 77, 78, 79, 85, 86, 89, and 99. All new buildings and buildings undergoing renovation will have the internal building broadcast system installed as part of the construction work. All other buildings will have the system retrofitted on a scheduled basis.
