Welcome from the Executive Director

Hello!

I am so pleased to welcome you to the University of West Florida and to provide information about the Center for Academic Success. In the Center for Academic Success, we support students throughout their academic journey, whether that means transitioning into college, setting goals, establishing strong academic habits, seeking support resources, or getting back on track when difficulties arise. Each office is committed to supporting your aspirations for success!

Sometimes we think that academic success simply means earning good grades. Instead, I challenge you to consider each experience, both positive and negative, as an opportunity to gain new knowledge, new skills, or a new perspective. Challenges often provide the most opportunity to think differently, solve a problem, or become a stronger learner. Find people (like those of us in CAS) who are excited about your plans for your future and who will hold you accountable for bringing it to reality. In doing so, you will undoubtedly perform well in your classes, because you will be doing the work necessary and taking small steps toward your goals each day.

Our daily work focuses on creating a welcoming and inclusive environment, nurturing students’ identity development and personal and academic growth, being innovative and collaborative student advocates, and providing excellent and effective services. We want you to discover all that is best within you, and we're here to help make those discoveries possible. I wish you the best as you begin your journey to realizing your goals and I am here if you need some support along the way.
