Spring Defer

Students smile from bridge outside the Hal Marcus College of Science and Engineering.

Spring deferment allows select summer and fall freshman applicants to enroll at UWF for the following spring term.

How to Accept Your Deferred Decision

As a result of growing interest in freshman admission, UWF has added Spring 2027 deferment to allow more Summer and Fall 2026 students to be offered full admission.

If you were offered a deferred decision for Spring 2027, be sure to complete the Spring Deferment Confirmation Form no later than May 1 to confirm your admission.

Frequently Asked Questions

These frequently asked questions provide information about the deferment process. Please contact admissions@uwf.edu or your admissions counselor if you have any additional questions.

The Spring Deferment Confirmation Form must be submitted no later than May 1, 2026.

If you wish to decline the offer, no action is necessary. Your Summer or Fall 2026 application will be automatically withdrawn in April, or you may cancel it now.

Yes! If you complete the 2026-2027 Free Application for Federal Student Aid and qualify for aid, we will use your FAFSA to provide an updated offer of financial aid for Spring 2027. If you haven’t already completed a 2026-2027 FAFSA, we encourage you to do so as soon as possible. An offer of financial aid is not guaranteed.

Yes! If you start courses at another college or university for the fall term following your high school graduation, you will still be admissible to UWF for Spring 2027. You must maintain at least a 2.00 GPA at that institution and submit your official transcript to UWF before spring enrollment.

If you attend another Florida public college or university, your general education courses are guaranteed to transfer to UWF. If courses are taken at an accredited Florida private or out-of-state college or university, they will likely transfer.

For more information about transferring course credits, visit the Transfer Course Checker. If you have any additional questions about credits, please visit the Transferring Credit webpage, or contact Sharon Bell at sbell@uwf.edu.

We would recommend you take college-level English and math.

Yes. Applicants who were offered spring deferment admission using academic information through only their junior year may request reconsideration after the first semester of their senior year concludes. Applicants will receive email communication from University Admissions in January 2026 outlining the reconsideration process, which will include the resubmission of the STARS record and completion of a reconsideration form. Completing the Spring Deferment Confirmation Form and then requesting reconsideration will not jeopardize your spring admission.
