Rental Vehicle Insurance

The University of West Florida (UWF) currently partners with Avis/Budget as its designated car rental provider under the State Contract. When renting from Avis/Budget, all vehicle damage costs outlined in the contract are covered by the rental company, eliminating the need to purchase additional insurance.

However, if a vehicle is rented from a company other than Avis/Budget, UWF assumes responsibility for any damages. To adequately protect UWF in such cases, renters must purchase a Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) or Loss Damage Waiver (LDW). Please note that this additional insurance may increase the rental cost, potentially making it more expensive than renting directly from Avis/Budget.
