Faculty Awards
The Division of Academic Affairs provides several faculty award opportunities.
Adjunct Faculty Excellence Award
The Adjunct Faculty Excellence Award allows for up to five awards (one per college) of $1,000 (before tax) for recognition of outstanding teaching by an adjunct. Award candidates will be recommended to the Provost by a selection committee comprised of previous year’s winners, and a department chair representative from each college.
2026 Eligibility: Selection is limited to Adjunct faculty who have taught at least one course in the previous academic year.

Distinguished Creative Activities in the Arts Award
The Distinguished Creative Activities in the Arts Award recognizes one early-career and one senior faculty member whose creative achievements have demonstrated exceptional distinction and impact within their areas such as visual and performing arts, creative writing, design, media production, and other forms of creative expression.
This award honors faculty whose artistic and creative endeavors exemplify innovation, excellence, and meaningful contribution to the arts for the past six years.
2026 Eligibility: Selection is limited to full-time faculty who have completed at least three years of employment at UWF, excluding recipients of the Distinguished University Professor Award.

Distinguished Faculty Service Award
The Distinguished Faculty Service Award is awarded to a faculty member who, while in the employment of the University of West Florida, has given outstanding service to the University and/or the community. The "Institutional Role and Scope Statement" includes the basis for defining many of the activities which can be considered service:
University Faculty who contribute their professional talents and expertise to support the public service mission of the University. Such service includes, but is not limited to, providing the benefits of their expertise to community organizations; making public professional appearances or performances; consulting with governmental agencies, business industries, educational systems, community service or arts organizations; serving on University committees and councils; participating in the recruitment and professional placement of students; and serving as an officer or committee member in organizations related to the area of professional expertise.

Distinguished University Research Projects Award
The Distinguished University Research Projects Award provides competitive project funding for significant research and creative activities.
2026 Eligibility: Selection is limited to tenure-track faculty, excluding recipients of the Distinguished University Professor Award.

Distinguished University Professorship
The Distinguished University Professorships serve to recognize full professors who continue to excel in teaching, scholarship and creative projects, service, and contributions to UWF and UWF faculty colleagues. The funding source for the awards is the Pace Distinguished University Professorship endowment managed by the UWF Foundation.
Eligibility:
- Tenured full professor;
- Minimum of six years in rank at UWF at the time of application;
- Have completed at least one successful Post-Tenure Review or Sustained Performance Evaluation at UWF since receiving tenure.

Faculty Excellence in Teaching Award
The Faculty Excellence in Teaching Award allows for up to five awards of $2,000, before tax, in recognition of outstanding teaching. Award candidates will be recommended to the Provost by a selection committee comprised of previous year’s winners.
2026 Eligibility: Selection will be limited to full-time faculty in regular faculty lines (excluding visiting and adjunct faculty and workforce personnel) who have been employed at the University on or before August 8, 2022.
