Dr. Phillip Schmutz, an Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences , researches coastal/beach and aeolian geomorphology, particularly factors that can build sand dunes.

Dr. Frank Gilliam, a Professor, earned his Ph.D. from Duke University and previously worked at Marshall University for 28 years teaching courses in ecology and plant ecology.

An Instructor in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences where she teaches and oversees the department's internship program. She is also the UWF Director of Conservation.

Dr. Zhiyong Hu, a Professor in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, specializes in geographic information systems (GIS), remote sensing, spatial analysis and modeling in urban areas, environmental studies and environmental health.

Dr. John D. Morgan is the primary faculty for the new online GIS Master's program offered by the Department of Earth and Environmental Studies. Morgan, who is an Associate Professor, graduated from Florida State University with a Ph.D. in Geography.

Dr. Jason Ortegren, a Professor in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, conducts research on climatology, meteorology, drought and other topics.

Dr. Kwame Owusu-Daaku, an Associate Professor, researches climate change adaptation and its influence on development and planning. He teaches courses related to environmental management and planning and is interested in qualitative research, community engagement, and civic scholarship.

Dr. Matthew Schwartz, who has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in Geology, Hydrology and related topics, is a Professor in the Department of EES as well as the Assistant VP of Research Administration. Dr. Schwartz is not currently accepting new graduate research students.
