What are they? Micromobility Devices are small, lightweight, electric-powered transportation devices designed for short-distance travel, including electric scooters, e-bikes, and electric skateboards - wheeled conveyances designed for personal transport.
What You Should Know
Top Things to Know about Micromobility Device (MMD) Use at UWF
- Transportation Use on sidewalks and crosswalks is allowed, unless otherwise provided by signage or regulation.
- Recreational Use is prohibited except in designated areas.
- MMDs are prohibited from use in the following areas:
- Ramps into buildings, curbs, benches, steps, stairs, or other such structures;
- Parking lots and roads;
- Within 10 feet of all building entrances
- Covered sidewalks; and
- Inside all buildings.
- You must yield to pedestrians and vehicular traffic and obey all applicable state and local laws, including but not limited to Section 316.2128, Florida Statutes.
- Non-motorized skateboards may be carried (but not ridden) into campus buildings and classrooms if they do not create an obstruction or trip hazard and do not damage.
- Parking and storage of motorized Micromobility Devices is limited to bike racks and other designated areas. If found parked indoors or creating a safety hazard, the University will move the MMD to an outside location. The University will not be responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged property.
