Freshman Transfer Advising and Registration
You are considered a freshman transfer student if you have 12-29 credit hours that you earned after high school graduation. Freshman transfer students, as well as students who have earned 30+ credits with an undeclared major will be advised by First Year Advising. Follow the steps below to begin the advising and registration process if you are a freshman transfer student.
For more information about Transfer requirements, please visit the Transfer Admission Requirements webpage.
Registration Steps
Step 1: Reserve your space with UWF by accepting your offer of admission and confirming your intent to enroll.
Step 2: Check your personal email for communication from your first year advisor* to schedule an advising appointment.
*Your advisor may reach out in advance to verify any AP, CLEP, IB, dual enrollment and transfer credits that may be applied to your degree audit. After your advisor has reviewed your degree audit and applicable credits, they will send you an email and invite you to schedule an advising appointment. During this appointment, your advisor will discuss your class options and walk you through the process of registering for classes.
Step 3: Use the Navigate app found in MyUWF to make an appointment with your assigned advisor. Please wait approximately 24 hours after confirming your admission to have access to the platform to schedule your advising appointment.
Please Note:
- If you are changing majors, please complete the Application Major Change form and notify your advisor before scheduling your appointment. Your schedule may need to be adjusted, and you may be required to meet with a different advisor to review your schedule.
- Be sure to check your UWF email regularly for communication from your Academic Advisor.

- Be on time for your appointment.
- What to bring:
- Have a comprehensive list of AP, IB, CLEP, Dual Enrollment, and all other transfer credits you anticipate earning, including pending exam scores. If you are unsure of how your credits may be applied, please refer to the list of transfer credit equivalencies.
- Bring your questions if you have any, and something to write with. Be prepared to ask questions during your appointment and/or take notes.
