The main campus is located in a nature preserve on a site of rolling hills and natural woodlands beside the Escambia River. It is about 10 miles north of downtown Pensacola and the beaches. A new $19 million dollar Health, Leisure, and Exercise Science facility opened in fall 2005. The University also owns and operates 22 historic properties in downtown Pensacola known as Historic Pensacola Village and owns 125 acres on Santa Rosa Island next to the Gulf Islands National Seashore. UWF currently enrolls more that 9,600 students on the main campus in Pensacola and the Emerald Coast campuses at OWC/UWF Fort Walton Beach and Eglin Air Force Base.
Housing may be difficult to find off campus at any time and more plentiful on-campus in the spring. If you are thinking of requesting an exchange for a fall semester, you should first contact University Housing at (850) 474-2463 to determine availability. For local housing options, check out the UWF Off-Campus Housing Service. Meal plans are also available for our students.
The University runs a free trolley service for staff, students, and employees. It travels through the campus, University housing and to the Target shopping mall a few miles away. Pensacola is also served by Pensacola Regional Airport.
Hotels are located at University Mall, about 3 miles from campus.
