Biography

Dr. Brad Regez earned his Ph.D. in Engineering Science from Southern Illinois University while working at the Center for Advanced Friction Studies. Before joining UWF, Regez spent seven years as a Research Associate at Northwestern University where his research focus was on developing laser based fiber optic sensing systems for structural health monitoring of safety critical aircraft and civil structures in addition to developing new nondestructive evaluation systems for assessment of structures. Regez has worked on research projects for NASA, FAA, ONR, and the NSF, as well as industry (Renault F1 race team, John Deere & Company, Boeing, GKN, GE, Honeywell, and Imperium Inc.).

Prior to his work at Northwestern, Regez was a Project Engineer working on the Space Shuttle Program at the Kennedy Space Center where he led several NASA efforts to implement emerging nondestructive evaluation technologies into the program. These efforts included developing an inspection technique using laser shearography to inspect the structural integrity of aging composite overwrapped pressure vessels located on both the space shuttle and international space station.
