Biography
Dr. Gautam, an Assistant Professor in the Mechanical Engineering department, received her Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering and M.S. in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Nevada, Reno. She received her B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from Utkal University, India in 2006. Before joining UWF in 2021, she was on the faculty of the Mechanical Engineering department at the University of Mississippi. Her teaching and research interests are primarily in the area of materials science with an emphasis on advanced manufacturing and materials thermodynamics.

Research
Dr. Gautam’s research utilizes machine learning in conjunction with computational materials science to knowledge discovery techniques for problems involving high-temperature materials degradation, renewable and sustainable engineering, novel materials discovery, and expanding Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math education to underserved and underrepresented minorities.
