Biography

Dr. Merry Beth Low, world languages coordinator and instructor of world languages, specializes and holds extensive experience in teaching French and Italian.  Low’s doctoral research is centered on French and Italian female spiritual writing during the sixteenth-century. She also holds expertise in post-WWII European literature and film. Low enjoys opening her students' eyes to the wonders and beauty of  global French and Italian language and culture.

When she is not teaching, Low loves to travel, spend time at Pensacola Beach, and try out local restaurants with her friends and family. She also enjoys discovering new music, as well as playing the piano and guitar. Low maintains an active lifestyle and has a passion for playing and watching soccer.

 

 

Degrees & Institutions

Low received both her Ph.D. and M.A. from Florida State University in French Language and Literature. She also received her M.A. in Religion from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary as well as her B.A. in International Relations and French from Samford University.

Current Courses

Low currently teaches First Year French and French film at UWF.

Classes Taught

Low teaches beginning and intermediate-level French courses, beginning Italian, French, and Global film, and various courses (i.e., Humanities) in the Honors Program.
