Take Stock Collegiate Scholars
Take Stock Collegiate Scholars is a partnership between the University of West Florida and Take Stock in Children, supported by Gulf Power. The program was launched September 5, 2017.
What We Do
Take Stock in Children participants from 67 Florida counties who choose to attend UWF will become Take Stock Collegiate Scholars upon entrance to the University. They are afforded the opportunity to “Plug-In…Power Up…and SHINE” as they begin their higher education journey. Scholars receive academic support, opportunities to network with professionals in the community, and participate in service projects.
Mission
Take Stock Collegiate Scholars is a program that supports Florida’s Take Stock in Children participants who attend The University of West Florida from the time they enter the University to graduation. Through academic support, mentorship, and service they will be career-ready upon graduation. The goal is for these students to be productive citizens who are employed and willing to serve others and their community.
Program Goals
- Increase the academic progress of Take Stock Collegiate Scholars
- Increase the graduation rates of Take Stock Collegiate Scholars
- Prepare Take Stock Collegiate Scholars for entry-level employment or graduate school
- Take Stock Collegiate Scholars will participate in community service
- Take Stock Collegiate Scholars will engage in professional networking opportunities, mentorship, and internships
