About the Disc Golf Course
The disc golf course flows throughout the University's main Pensacola campus. This course was made possible in part by The Disc Golf Foundation, which awarded UWF the Matching Baskets Grant.
Disc Golf Course Rules
- Safety first: Never throw when players or park users are within range. Always give park users the right of way. Be aware of your surroundings and environment.
- Leave it better than you found it: Please pick up trash and move loose branches off to the side of the fairway.
- Tee throws: Each hole begins with a tee throw. Tee throws must be completed within or behind the designated tee area.
- Throwing order: The player with the lowest score on a hole is first to tee off on the next hole.
- When putting within 30 feet, players must demonstrate balance with the plant foot.
- Fairway throws: When the disc comes to rest in the fairway, the edge of the disc becomes the restraining line. During the next throw, final front-foot placement should not pass the front edge of the disc. A run-up and normal follow-through after release are allowed.
- Completion: Disc must come to rest in the basket or be suspended in the chains.
- Unplayable lie: Any disc that comes to rest above the ground is considered an unplayable lie. The disc must be thrown from the lie on the ground, directly underneath the unplayable lie, to avoid damage to the vegetation.
- Mando: Any disc that flies or lands outside of the posted mandatory out-of-bounds (O.B.) sign must be played from the short tee pad, with a one-stroke penalty.
- Out-of-bounds: All pavement and sidewalks are considered O.B. Discs are considered O.B. only when the entire disc has completely crossed the O.B. line. A throw that lands O.B. must be played from a point 3 feet in-bounds from where the disc went O.B., with a one-stroke penalty.
- Most Important rule: “Whoever has the most fun wins.” —‘Steady’ Ed Headrick
