Faculty at the University of West Florida are active scholars and researchers. UWF values research because it enriches the learning environment of our students, provides solutions to problems in our region, and contributes to the well-being of our community.
Call for Nominations
Awards are available to recognize individuals with a distinguished record of research, scholarly, and/or creative achievements at UWF. Such achievements may include, but are not limited to:
- Production/publication of research, creative, and scholarly products, including manuscripts, books, performances, exhibitions, or displays.
- Successful engagement in multidisciplinary efforts that culminate in research products.
- Scholarly activities that engage and inform the community.
- Demonstrated engagement in the pursuit and securing of external funds to support research or has made a lasting impact on their disciplinary field.
The next round of nominations will be available during Summer 2026.

UWF earns high research activity designation from Carnegie Foundation
The University of West Florida was designated a Research 2: High Spending and Doctorate Production institution by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. This is the first time the University has received this reputable classification.

Create Your Research Profile in the Argo Scholar Commons
The UWF Libraries hosts the Argo Scholar Commons (ASC), an online showcase of research, scholarship, and creativity from the UWF community. Works placed in the repository are more easily discovered in internet search engines (i.e. Google), and help increase the visibility and awareness of both content creators and the University. STATEMENT: Florida law requires that all state university employees "engaged in the design, conduct, or reporting of research" must disclose any and all outside activities and conflicts of interests. Pursuant to 1012.977 (FS), any such state university employee who fails to disclose such activities "shall be suspended without pay pending the outcome of an investigation which shall not exceed 60 days. Upon conclusion of the investigation, the university or entity may terminate the contract of the employee."
