Distinguished Scholarship Award

The Distinguished Scholarship Award recognizes a full-time faculty member who has demonstrated exceptional achievement in research and scholarship. It honors faculty who significantly advance knowledge in their field and elevate the university's academic reputation.


Call for Nominations

Recognizes faculty members who have demonstrated exceptional achievement in research and scholarship, including but not limited to significant discoveries, knowledge integration across disciplines, innovative application of knowledge to solve real-world problems, and academic publications that enhance UWF’s reputation as a premier research institution. Such achievements may include, but are not limited to:

  • Quality and volume of peer-reviewed books, chapters, and journal articles.
  • Publication Citation Impact: Citation counts, h-index, or field-normalized citation impact.
  • Evidence of shaping field discourse or significant advancement of understanding.
  • Cross-disciplinary synthesis, patents, licenses, cost-savings, or commercialized real-world solutions.
  • Media coverage, external research awards, prestigious fellowships, and keynote invitations.

Nominations are accepted from June 10, 2026, through September 2, 2026.

Full-time faculty (tenure-earning, tenured, or non-tenure-earning) with distinguished records of scholarship are eligible for nomination with at least three years of employment at UWF, except for the recipients of the UWF Distinguished University Professorship.

Awards will be presented at the Faculty Awards Celebration on November 19, 2026.

Nominations will be submitted via the shared Faculty Awards Nominations 2026 form from the Provost’s Office. Nominations should be submitted by September 2, 2026. Then RAE will contact the nominating person to request the documents for consideration.

Once we have received the nomination, we will provide the nominating Chair/Dean a link to submit all nomination materials as one packet via email. Application materials should be completed by the nominee and forwarded by the nominee’s Chair/Dean.

IMPORTANT: The following materials from the nominee are required:

  1. Nominee's name, UWF email address, department, and college
  2. Two-page CV from the nominee, as described in the call for nominations
  3. One-page statement of the nominee's scholarly contribution and the impact of the nominee's academic work, as described in the Call for Nominations
  4. Two reference letters from peers outside of UWF

Call for nominations: Wednesday, June 10, 2026.

Deadline for nominations: Wednesday, September 2, 2026.

Award recipients announcement: Thursday, November 19, 2026.
