Distinguished Sponsored Research Award
The Distinguished Sponsored Research Award recognizes distinguished accomplishment in sponsored research and the training of students through externally funded research at UWF.
Call for Nominations
The award recognizes faculty members who demonstrate superior research development and capacity-building activities that lead to awards for competitive externally funded research programs at UWF. Such achievements may include, but are not limited to:
- Development of research capability and capacity in emerging research fields with high funding potential.
- Demonstrated success and sustainability in receiving competitive research funding.
- Creation of knowledge and development of solutions that effectively address complex problems faced by society.
- Impact of research output on the community and its economic development.
- Cultivating the next-generation researchers through supporting and graduating students who work on sponsored research.
Nominations are accepted from June 10, 2026, through September 2, 2026.
Full-time faculty (tenure-earning, tenured, or non-tenure-earning) with distinguished records of achievement in competitive sponsored research are eligible for nomination, except for the recipients of the UWF Distinguished University Professorship. Nominees must maintain a record of compliance with UWF research and integrity policies.
In 2026, all eligible faculty are welcome to apply. This includes all past award winners, as this award has been updated and considered new. After 2026, those who have received the award are eligible after 3 years
- Early Career - service of 7 years or less at UWF
- Senior Faculty - service of more than 7 years at UWF
Awards will be presented at the Faculty Awards Celebration on November 19, 2026.
Nominations will be submitted via the shared Faculty Awards Nominations 2026 form from the Provost’s Office. Nominations should be submitted by September 2, 2026. Then RAE will contact the nominating person to request the documents for consideration.
Once we have received the nomination, we will provide the nominating Chair/Dean a link to submit all nomination materials as one packet via email. Application materials should be completed by the nominee and forwarded by the nominee’s Chair/Dean.
IMPORTANT: The following materials from the nominee are required:
- Nominee's name, UWF email address, department, and college
- Two-page CV from the nominee, as described in the Call for Nominations
- One-page statement of the nominee's sponsored research activities and the impact of the nominee's research products, as described in the Call for Nominations

Award recipients announcement: Thursday, November 19, 2026.
