Jamie Sprague

Biography

Jamie Sprague serves as the Associate Vice President of Human Resources at the University of West Florida. She has the overall authority for directing and administrating the University’s Human Resources programs. In this role, Mrs. Sprague develops and implements policies, processes and training while providing coaching and consultation for supervisors and administration. She oversees budget priorities and strategic planning for Human Resources. Additionally, she interprets laws, rules, polices, and procedures and plays a key role in proposals, recommendations, and reports for administration.

Prior to joining UWF in 2012, Mrs. Sprague was the Director of Personnel Services at the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches. During her 15 years of services at the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches, Mrs. Sprague provided quality care to the children served, administrative leadership, and day-to-day supervisory support for all Human Resources functions. In 2005, Mrs. Sprague received the Jim Strayer Leadership Award for being an influential leader with an eye for quality, teaching best practices, delivering growth-oriented results, ensuring outstanding care for children, and having a heart for children in the state of Florida.

Mrs. Sprague received her bachelor’s degree in secondary education history and sociology and a master’s degree in secondary education history from the University of West Alabama. She earned an Alabama teaching certificate in 1997 and a human resources management certificate through George Washington University in 2006. She currently holds a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification from the HR Certification Institute (HRCI) and a Florida Certified Labor Relations Professional (FCLRP) certification.
