UWF’s Marine Science Camp

Explore hands-on marine science learning this summer. This immersive camp connects students with coastal ecosystems. Developed in partnership with Autism Pensacola and supported by UWF's Center for Behavior Analysis, this program features high teacher-to-student ratios and autism-informed instruction to ensure every camper can learn and thrive.

Dive into Marine Science Session #1
6-9 years old
July 13-17  9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Discover the wonders of Marine Science through sensory-friendly and hands-on exploration of ocean habitats and their inhabitants. Camouflage your fish in a mangrove forest, make an edible seagrass bed and create colorful fish that belong in a coral reef.
Ocean Explorers Session #1
10-13 years old
July 13-17  9 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Discover the wonders of Marine Science through sensory-friendly and hands-on exploration of the ocean’s largest inhabitants and the ocean zones they live in. Create sensory jars of the ocean zones, learn about bioluminescence and create a light-up jellyfish.

Dive into Marine Science Session #2
6-9 years old
July 20-24  9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Discover the wonders of Marine Science through sensory-friendly and hands-on exploration of the ocean’s many inhabitants. Dive into engaging activities such as creating shark crafts, making octopus slime and learning how fish breathe. 
Ocean Explorers Session #2
10-13 years old
July 20-24  9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Discover the wonders of Marine Science through sensory-friendly and hands-on exploration of ocean predators and invasive species, and take a deep dive into the Gulf in our backyard. Build a coral reef, track great white sharks and complete an oil spill cleanup challenge. 

Camp FAQs

Yes! We do not have lunch available. Please pack a daily lunch and snack for your child. Do not pack anything that needs to be kept cold, reheated, or microwaved. We also encourage you to pack plenty of fluids or a refillable water bottle.

We do not put specific locations on public websites. We will send the location, directions and pick up and drop off information in a welcome letter the Wednesday before the camp.

$50 per camp is due at time of registration. The remaining payments is due by 8:00 a.m. the Monday prior to the camp you are attending. Full payment the Monday prior to the camp is required to retain your spot.

Drop off for camp takes place between 8:45 - 9 a.m. each day. Pick up takes place from 3 - 3:15 p.m. each day. 

  • Cancellations and refunds are subject to a $12 registration fee.
  • Requests for refunds must be submitted prior to a program’s start date. Refund appeals must be submitted within 7 calendar days after a program begins. Requests made after that date will not be considered.
  • If a program is canceled by Explore Camps due to major weather event or other extenuating circumstances, a full refund of the tuition or a prorated rate if part of the camp ran, will be awarded to the account holder.
  • If an account holder cancels 8 or more calendar days before a program is scheduled to start, a refund of the tuition will be awarded, less a $12 registration fee.
  • If an account holder cancels 5 to 7 calendar days before a program is scheduled to start, tuition will be refunded, minus the $50 deposit.
  • Refunds may take up to 2 weeks to process.
