Institute for Analytics & Industry Advancement Courses

The UWF Institute for Analytics and Industry Advancement offers in-demand courses that lead to industry certifications.

Data analytics, IT engineering certifications

UWF IAIA industry certifications are designed to develop skilled professionals with the most in-demand skills. Industry certification courses develop the knowledge and readiness of electrical and computer engineers, analysts, data scientists and other professionals in analytics. In a field of rapid advancement of tools, techniques and challenges, continuous development of the latest, in-demand skills is critical for success.

Introduction to Exterior Ballistics

This course provides an introduction to the field of Exterior Ballistics, including an overview of the forces and moments that affect balls, bullets, and missiles in flight, as well as an overview of simplifying ballistic models such as vacuum trajectories, differential transformations, point mass and NATO 4DOF models. An introduction to trajectory simulation and experimental techniques will also be covered. Students will implement simple numerical simulations of ballistic motion and identify experimental methods used in ballistics. A basic understanding of ordinary differential equations is preferred.

The course will be taught asynchronous, but students have the option to attend live lectures if they wish on M/W at 4:00 p.m. - 5:15 p.m. CST, as well as attend the class in person at the UWF Pensacola Campus in Building 4, Room 305.

Required Textbook: Exterior Ballistics: Theory and Application by John Stutz, ISBN: 9798765755198.

Dates: TBD
Location: Online, synchronous or asynchronous.
