UWF Center for Entrepreneurship's non-credit certificate courses are designed based on the most in-demand skills businesses are actively searching for. The courses address specific needs from project management, continuous process improvement, to how to start your own business.

With an average completion time of 8-10 weeks, each course is supported by instructor interaction, videos and written instructions. The interactive curriculum has been designed to provide both background knowledge of the topic and relevant practice executing key concepts.

Courses are designed to be taken individually and do not have to be taken in any specific order, although many of the concepts are related and can build on subject area knowledge. A certificate of completion is awarded after successful course completion.

Six Sigma Black Belt

Continuous process improvement provides organizations with insight into current business processes, improves those processes, creates financial rewards for the organization, and increases the organization’s competitive advantage. This certificate program provides you with both the skills and practical knowledge to execute Six Sigma projects. You begin this certificate program by identifying a potential improvement project and then receive feedback from a Six Sigma Master Black Belt to refine the project. You will then execute every step of the Six Sigma process (with the support of a Master Black Belt) to help you improve your organization and gain the experience necessary to conduct your own Six Sigma projects in the future.

The Six Sigma Black Belt requires the participant to lead a Six Sigma project. Successful participants must therefore demonstrate they are able to both understand and perform:

  • Advanced Analytical Skills
  • Project Management Skills
  • Personnel Management Skills

The course instructor will work directly with the Six Sigma Blackbelt candidate to develop a project and provide coaching and mentoring in each of the three skill sets. The anticipated time to complete the Six Sigma Blackbelt is six months to one year, since the candidate must manage a project from start to finish.
