What Can UWF Continuing Education Do For You?

Continuing Education provides credit and non-credit education and training opportunities that meet individual needs of learners. Through participation in University and community educational partnerships, we create and support programs that meet the needs of the regional and state workforce. Where do you fit in?

Develop, Teach and Offer Courses

We support colleges, departments, programs, faculty and staff in the process to develop and deliver new non-credit and credit courses. Non-credit courses enrich the community’s knowledge of a particular topic. Credit courses can also be restructured to accommodate a nontraditional learner’s interest in a topic without tests and grades.

Email ContinuingEd@uwf.edu for more information.

What type of course options are there?

Availability for credit courses offered through CE is open to undergraduate certificates, graduate certificates and programs.

  • Students have been admitted to UWF and have registered through Banner
  • Can be degree or non-degree seeking
  • Student earns credit, which appears on their transcript
  • Normal letter grade scale
  • Possibly eligible for traditional financial aid (depending on the course)

Non-credit courses and programs are created for students to learn something new, but they don’t earn college credit for them. They’re usually for personal interest, professional development or learning new skills. These can be on any topic, any modality, any timeline, with no minimum contact hour requirements.

  • Students do not receive academic credit on their transcripts
  • Offered as pass/fail
  • Eligible for a certificate of completion
  • Student does not have to apply to UWF. They registers through CE’s registration system
  • Not eligible for traditional financial aid. Can apply for select private educational loans
  • Possibility to explore credit by proficiency with the department

Blended courses already exist as a credit offerings. They are offered to both credit and non-credit students, mixed into the same class.

  • Does NOT have to be a CE credit course to allow noncredit student enrollments
  • Students do the same assignments, but non-credit students do not earn a letter grade
  • Non-credit students do not count towards minimum enrollment requirements
  • Tuition price is slightly lower for non-credit students than for credit
