Resources for Faculty and Staff

Tutoring and Learning Resources collaborates closely with faculty and staff to support students at UWF. This page lists several ways for faculty and staff to partner with Tutoring and Learning Resources and promote utilization of the many services we offer.

Schedule a Class Visit or Academic Presentation

Tutoring and Learning Resources would be pleased to present information about our services to your class, department, or event! We offer class visits to present information about our services and offer presentations on topics such as metacognition, study skills, time management, and other academic skills.

We can easily cater to your schedule with class visits ranging from 5-25 minutes and academic presentations ranging from 15-60 minutes. To schedule a class visit or presentation, please complete our Presentation Request Form. Virtual options are available.

Add Us To Your Syllabus or Canvas Course

We highly recommend that faculty members include information about the services offered at Tutoring and Learning Resources in their syllabus and/or Canvas course to ensure that students are aware of how we can support them. See our Syllabus Blurb and Canvas Announcement page for suggested verbiage.

Refer a Student to Tutoring or Other Services

If you know a student who would benefit from tutoring in a specific course, please provide them with the link to our website and/or tutoring schedule to help them to receive assistance. Students may also email our office (tutoring@uwf.edu), give us a call (850-474-3176), or stop by in person (Bldg. 52, Rm. 151) to schedule an appointment or view walk-in availability.

If you know a student who would benefit from building academic success strategies not related to course content, please refer them to the other services we offer, including:

Study Skills Assistance sessions cater to the needs of individual students to provide helpful tips, successful strategies, and other information to improve academic performance. Areas of specialty include, but are not limited to, general study skills, time management, and test-taking strategies.

Academic Coaches serve as semester-long accountability partners trained to help students develop the necessary skills to become successful and self-directed lifelong learners. Coaching provides academic skill building in areas such as time management, note taking, study skills, test prep, and goal setting.

Academic Success Workshops are held throughout the semester and provide guidance and tips for academic success. Presentations include: Dive Deep into College Success, Study Smarter, Not Harder, Effective Time Management, and Final Exam Prep.

Recommend a Student for a Position as a Peer Tutor or Academic Coach

If you know a student who would excel as a peer tutor, workshop presenter, and/or an academic coach, please email our office (tutoring@uwf.edu) or give us a call (850-474-3176) so that we can reach out to the student with a link to our job application(s). More information and links to job applications can also be found on our Job Opportunities page.
