West Campus Trails

Located on the westernmost 600 acres of campus, these diverse and challenging  Biking and Hiking Trails are enjoyed by hikers, cyclists, geocache, and equestrian enthusiasts. Trail etiquette necessitates those on foot yield to horses while cyclists yield to foot traffic and equestrians. Motorcycles and off-road vehicles are not permitted on campus trails. The UWF Cycling Club hosts orientation rides touring the 20+ miles of trails on campus. An interactive map is available.

Edward Ball Nature Trail

The Edward Ball Nature Trail is accessed behind Crosby Hall (Bldg. 10) and Bldg. 11. This half-mile boardwalk meanders through Thompson Bayou over a hardwood swamp that is home to mammals, birds, fish, and reptiles, including an occasional American alligator (Alligator mississippiensis). Foot traffic only may explore the preserve trail.

Chronolog

UWF Outdoor Adventure program is partnering with Chronolog to track environmental conditions and trends along the Edward Ball Nature Trail. By monitoring participant-provided photos and creating time-lapses with those images. Please consider participating by stopping by UWFs Chronolog station just inside the boardwalk section of the Edward Ball Nature Trail overlooking Thompsons Bayou and taking a few photos yourself.
