Motorcycles and off-road vehicles are not permitted on trails. Dogs can be walked, provided they are on a leash. For more details, see the UWF's Policy Animals on Campus (BOT Policies—P-19.02)

West Campus Trails

Located on the westernmost 600 acres of campus, these challenging trails are enjoyed by hikers, cyclists, geocache and equestrian enthusiasts. Trail etiquette requires that those on foot yield to horses while cyclists yield to foot traffic and equestrians. Motorcycles and off-road vehicles are not permitted on campus trails. An interactive map is available.

Edward Ball Nature Trail

The Edward Ball Nature Trail is accessed behind Crosby Hall (Bldg. 10) and Bldg. 11. This half-mile boardwalk meanders through Thompson Bayou over a hardwood swamp that is home to mammals, birds, fish and reptiles, including an occasional American alligator (Alligator mississippiensis). Foot traffic may only explore the preserve trail.

Chronolog

Explore Chronolog to track environmental conditions and trends along the Edward Ball Nature Trail.

Cross Country Trails

Located opposite the Sports Complex, runners and walkers may access four Cross Country Trails that wind through the Baars-Firestone Wildlife Sanctuary, exploring sandhill, hammock and wetlands habitats. Offering varied terrain, the trails are bordered by Campus Drive and Campus Lane on two sides and are adjacent to Martin Hall and the Multipurpose Fields. Parking is available at the Sports Complex or between the Building 90 Complex and Martin Hall.

Assumption of Risk

Individuals who participate in Recreation and Wellness activities will be doing so at their own risk. Participation is voluntary, and The University of West Florida is not responsible for injuries that may occur to individuals.
