Student Code of Conduct

University students and student organizations are expected to uphold appropriate standards of behavior and to respect the rights and privileges of others. This Student Code of Conduct applies to individual students as well as student organizations. All students and student organizations are expected to conduct themselves in accordance with all federal, state and local laws, and Board of Governors and University regulations and policies. The Student Code of Conduct applies to all UWF campuses, UWF-sponsored programs, including international and exchange programs, and off-campus conduct.

Incident Report

A violation occurred under Regulation 3.010 of the Student Code of Conduct, and a Student Conduct Report was submitted to the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities (SRR).

Notification of Charges

If sufficient information is provided, SRR will notify the charged student and charged party via email of the allegation and charges, the next steps and an invitation to a Misconduct Educational Conference (EC) scheduled by the charging party at least 7 business days before the EC.

Educational Conference

During the EC, the charged student will review the Student Code of Conduct Educational Conference Form, their rights to the charges that were presented, describe the allegations, review the supporting information that led to charging the student and provide the student with an option to respond to the allegations.

After the Educational Conference, the student has the right to choose the following resolutions: Accept responsibility or Deny responsibility

Accepts responsibility Option

The charged student waives their right to a hearing, accepts responsibility for the charge and accepts the proposed sanctions. If the charged student wishes to proceed with the Non-hearing Resolution, they must sign and return the Student Misconduct Educational Conference Form provided to them at the Educational Conference. Within 7 business days, the SRR will send the charged student the proposed sanctions and a Resolution Agreement. They must sign and return to the SRR  agreement within 3 business days.

Not Accepting Responsibility Option

If the student does not participate in the Educational Conference, complete the Student Code of Conduct Educational Conference form within the provided 2 business days of the Educational Conference or elect that they are not responsible for the alleged charges. The matter will be referred for a hearing by the Student Conduct Board. The charged student has the right to a hearing before a Student Conduct Hearing Board or Administrative Hearing. Review the  Student Code of Conduct 3.010 for the differences and qualifications for each of the hearing resolution options.

*The charged student has the right to appoint an Advisor, Student Advocate or witness, but they must notify SRR 7 business days before the Educational Conference or hearing.
