Biography

I am happy to be working as a psychologist at Counseling & Psychological Services because it allows me to do what I love — help people. My training and experience include earning a bachelor's degree in psychology from Florida State University, a master's in community counseling from Georgia State University and a Ph.D. in counseling psychology from the University of Houston.

I am a licensed psychologist in the State of Florida and have worked and trained in a variety of settings. I have worked with teenagers and their families, providing individual therapy, family therapy and group therapy. I have worked with adults in a state prison, providing counseling and diagnostic testing. I have also worked in two Veterans Affairs hospitals and trained in a neuropsychology private practice. I have worked with clients who report a broad range of concerns, including depression, relationship concerns, substance abuse, bereavement, anger management, sexual difficulties, coping with a history of abuse and coping with serious medical conditions.

My goals in providing therapy are to help people understand themselves and their concerns more fully and to facilitate the development of new skills for coping with what's troubling them. This includes helping people to develop new ways of looking at a problem so that they can see themselves as being at a place where they can do something to change their situation. I also work to help people to develop new action plans for changing their situation and coping more effectively.
