Community Partner Spotlight
The Community Partner Spotlight highlights mutually beneficial partnerships between the University of West Florida and organizations in our community.
Gulf Coast Diplomacy
Since its inception in 2008, UWF has collaborated with Gulf Coast Diplomacy, fostering exchange partnerships, hosting prominent international speakers, and achieving numerous other successful outcomes. This partnership enhances internationalization by enriching the academic and cultural experiences of students, faculty, staff, and the broader community while also contributing to the local economy through the influx of international visitors facilitated by Gulf Coast Diplomacy. It also plays a crucial role in preparing students to excel in an increasingly interconnected and globalized world and workforce. We appreciate Gulf Coast Diplomacy's partnership and look forward to future collaborations!
Achieve Escambia
Achieve Escambia aligns community resources to empower individuals and improve outcomes for learners of all ages, from cradle to career, across the Pensacola metropolitan area. The UWF Haas Center collaborates with Achieve Escambia to gather and share data on the community's health and well-being. Through the collaborative effort of Achieve Escambia, Achieve Healthy EscaRosa, and the UWF Haas Center, the Achieve Dashboard was developed.
The Achieve Dashboard leverages data to drive positive change in our community by measuring what matters and identifying effective practices. Indicators of education, health and social well-being, infrastructure, quality of place, and workforce & demographics are the focus of this dashboard. Because education is the most adaptable of all social determinants of health and well-being, enhancing educational outcomes can lead to transformative impacts across other areas, ultimately strengthening our entire community. Higher levels of education in a community often correlate with a better quality of place, evidenced by lower poverty rates, higher incomes, and more resources dedicated to public services. There is also a strong relationship between health and education. Individuals with higher educational attainment tend to have better health outcomes, which in turn supports economic stability and reduces healthcare costs for the community as a whole.
The hope is that citizens and organizations will utilize the Dashboard to plan programs, align resources, and leverage new resources and opportunities to improve outcomes across indicators. This partnership provides valuable insights for the community and strengthens UWF's commitment to fostering meaningful, data-driven change that positively impacts both the University and the region.
