Sea Grant Florida
The Florida Sea Grant “Eyes on Seagrass” program is a citizen science initiative that tracks the health of Florida’s seagrass ecosystems. Through its partnership with UWF, students and local volunteers receive training to monitor seagrass coverage and water quality in the Pensacola Bay System.
UWF students gain hands-on experience by collecting data on temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen, light, pH and seagrass cover. This collaboration gives them the opportunity to practice field research while supporting coastal conservation. By working with Sea Grant staff, volunteers, and researchers, UWF students build scientific skills and contribute directly to protecting vital marine habitats.
