- Academic advising for students requires an academic advisor to be many things/wear many hats; teacher, supporter, encourager, counselor, organizer, communicator, friend, go-to person, facilitator, learner, and advocate.
- Advisors do this job because we love our students! Nothing is as rewarding for us as seeing our student walk across that stage earning their degree!
- A bit more about me...
- I have over twenty years of higher education experience in multiple campus roles, all of which continue to positively impact my interactions with students, faculty, and staff.
- I am exceedingly grateful to be part of the School of Education and would love nothing more than to harness my passion for advising and student success for the overall benefit and furtherance of both UWF's and the School of Education's mission and goals.
- I strive to be the staunchest advocate for the disabled, and I'm continually strengthening my own accessibility best practices' toolbox and sharing with colleagues new/evolving education philosophies, learning styles, and emerging technologies. Learning is truly transformative!
- As the current treasurer, I have served and continue to serve in varying capacities for the Emerald Coast Academic Advising Network (ECAAN), and I maintain current membership in the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA).
- I work on various campus committees and workgroups.
