Dr. Metts is a board-certified family nurse practitioner with practice experience in rural primary/chronic care and urgent/acute care settings. She has experience taking call at a long-term care facility treating geriatric patients. Her practice also includes providing chronic and acute care for vulnerable populations of children and adolescents in a psychiatric treatment center hospital. Her nursing experience includes outpatient surgery, endoscopy, pain management, and surgical pre-assessment.

She has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Mississippi State University. She received an associate and bachelor’s degree in nursing from Mississippi University for Women. Her master of science in nursing and doctorate in nursing practice was received from The University of Southern Mississippi. Her DNP project was structured on the evidence-based necessity and benefits of on-site diagnostic equipment, specifically the electrocardiogram, with emphasis upon facilities that treat vulnerable populations in psychiatric treatment environments.

Through her nursing education and work experience, she cultivated a truism, “If you stop learning, you stop living.” This motto guides her practice, her teaching, and life goals as it relates to health promotion and disease prevention.
