CRRSAA
The Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Student Emergency Grant (CRRSAA) prioritized students with exceptional need.
Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Student Emergency Grant
As an expansion of the CARES Act, the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act (CRRSAA), 2021, was signed into law on Dec. 27, 2020. UWF received CRRSAA funds in the amount of $3,400,694 to offer financial aid grants to students. Unlike the CARES distribution, CRRSAA guidance required institutions to prioritize students with exceptional need. UWF is committed to providing support for students with the most significant financial needs arising from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Students meeting the priority eligibility criteria below were automatically considered for a CRRSAA Emergency Student Aid Grant beginning in Spring 2021. Students that did not meet the criteria were considered through the current UWF Emergency Grant Process accessible via MyUWF. Students needed to document a demonstrated COVID-19 related hardship.
Priority eligibility was given to students meeting the following criteria:
- Degree-seeking.
- Had a 2020-2021 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application on file.
- In good standing to be eligible to receive Title IV aid; see Title IV Eligibility Criteria (Basic
Eligibility Criteria for Federal Student Aid). - Had an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) under $15,000.
- Students with an EFC under $15,000 or less with a previous COVID-19 student emergency grant under the CARES Act could have received an additional award.
- Grant amounts varied based on student financial need, with priority given to those with exceptional need.
- Award amounts did not exceed $2,000.*
Student notification of eligibility
Students were notified via email to review their self-serve portal and were required to review and accept their award. By accepting, the student acknowledged the direct impact of COVID-19 for which they incurred expenses related to components based on the cost of attendance.
Additional information
-
Award amounts varied, but the maximum a student could receive was $2,000.*
-
Grants were refunded via Bank Mobile after the student acknowledged and accepted their award.
-
Any grants not accepted within two weeks were canceled. For any canceled awards, students e-mailed finaid@uwf.edu to have their award reinstated provided funds remained available.
-
UWF exercised professional judgment to make an award when deemed necessary.
-
Students with an EFC of $15,000 or over were considered through the current UWF Emergency Grant Process accessible via MyUWF. Students needed to document a demonstrated COVID-19 related hardship.
*The maximum awarded for a single disbursement. If there were remaining funds, a student could have received an additional award.
The priority awarding guidelines were as follows for eligible students:
Expected Family Contribution (per FAFSA) | Amount |

$0-$5,499 | Up to $2,000 |
$5,500-$14,999 | Up to $1000 |
