Dr. Jane M. Caffrey is a Distinguished University Professor in UWF’s Center for Environmental Diagnostics and Bioremediation. She studies estuarine nutrient biogeochemistry and the cycling of oxygen, nitrogen and phosphorus in estuarine and coastal environments.

Zachary Dellacqua (PhD) is a marine biologist whose work integrates aquaculture, ecology, and sustainability. He applies eco-evo-devo approaches to fish skeletal biology to improve welfare and rearing practices, while also inspiring students through science engagement.

Dr. Alexis Janosik is a Professor and Graduate Program Coordinator in the Department of Biology; her research focuses on molecular ecology and evolution of invertebrates and fishes.

Dr. Wade Jeffrey has a PH.D. in Marine Science from the University of South Florida, MS in Marine Science from the USF and a BS in Biology from the Virginia Tech.

Dr. Michelle Jenson, an Instructor in the Department of Biology, holds a Ph.D. in Biology from Louisiana State University. She enjoys working with all students, both as an instructor as well as engaging in directed study projects applying molecular biology techniques and forensic biology.

Dr. Lotfy research focuses on stem cell biology, regenerative medicine, and immunology, Dr. Lotfy studies mesenchymal stem cells and exosome/ EVs-based therapies using in vitro and in vivo models to develop treatments for autoimmune and degenerative diseases.

Miron is an integrative evolutionary biologist who works from DNA to macroevolution. He is especially interested in the causes and consequences of variation in reproductive systems.

Dr. Jake Siedlik's fundamental research interest is statistical modeling, specifically the methodological concerns relevant to high-dimensional data analysis including clustering and classification, unsupervised modeling, and Bayesian methods for data analysis.

Professor Spain studies environmental biotechnology in marine, freshwater and subsurface ecosystems to enable elimination of environmental pollution. The emphasis is on discovery and characterization of bacteria that degrade organic chemicals.

Dr. Tominack is an instructor and lab coordinator for Biology I and Biology II labs. Dr. Tominack’s research skills are varied and range from microbial ecology to environmental toxicology, but her real passion lies in passing those skills on to the next generation of scientific minds.

Dr. Adam Trent Robinson

- Short Bio: Dr. Trent Robinson earned a Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology from the University of Alabama, and his research focuses on animal behavior, crustacean biology and ecology, self-awareness, spatial cognition, and associative learning. He currently serves as a Cognitive Enhancement Practitioner with KBR at Air Force Special Operations Command.
