Sparking Creativity in All Seasons of Life
October 20, 2025 | Lisa Gibbs

Creativity is often viewed as a trait exclusive to artists or musicians, but the truth is that everyone has a creative spark. Whether it’s writing an action-packed story or capturing a beautiful moment on camera, creativity is simply crafting something new and adding your personal flair to it. Tapping into your creative side can do more than fill your free time. Studies have shown that engaging in creative activities can help reduce stress and strengthen memory and problem-solving skills. For many adults, creative hobbies become a form of mindfulness, offering a sense of calm to the noise of daily life.
Why Creativity Matters
In a world filled with screens, notifications, appointments and endless to-do lists, it’s easy to lose touch with your imagination. Carving time, however small, into your busy schedule to create something can help restore balance. Creativity gives you permission to experiment and even fail, something we tend to forget to allow the space for as adults.
You don’t have to be an expert to start. The simple act of trying something new can spark ideas in other areas of your life. Try your hand at a new activity to find inspiration and look at your surroundings differently, or take a creative writing class that may help you process experiences in a new way. Creativity fuels curiosity, and curiosity inspires lifelong learning.
