Meet the partners that have made the Gulf Coast History Maritime Project. This collaborative project was built on the generous support of many scholars, professionals, volunteers, and institutions.
About our Partners
The Gulf Coast Digital History Project seeks to foster research, teaching, and learning about the northern Gulf of Mexico by creating an accessible clearinghouse of history and heritage resources. Led by the UWF Digital Humanities Lab, the project team includes representatives from the UWF Department of History, the Florida Public Archaeology Network, and the UWF University Libraries.
This collaborative project was built on the generous support of many scholars, professionals, volunteers, and institutions. The National Park Service provided funding for this work through a 2017 National Maritime Heritage Grant. This initial funding has been supplemented by support from the University of West Florida, including the Department of History and the University Archives & West Florida History Center. Partnering institutions are the heart of this project and include, to date: the UWF Historic Trust, the Gulf Breeze Area Historical Society, the Destin History and Fishing Museum, the Pensacola Lighthouse and Museum, and the Naval Aviation Museum.The project team has included: Dr. Jamin Wells, Dr. Amy Mitchell-Cook, Dr. Della Scott-Ireton, Dr. John Jensen, Melissa Gonzalez, Dean DeBolt, Tim Bulger, John Blackie, Lina Bahrom, Geoffrey Ramirez, Brianna West, Seth Gregory, Jessica Freeman, and Cat Gambel.
