Kurt Wise

Biography

Dr. Kurt Wise is a public relations professor and oversees the master’s program capstone courses. He is also a former chair of the UWF Department of Communication. 

Wise has more than 36 years of combined work experience in academe and public relations executive management positions.

Wise, who is on the editorial boards for the journals Public Relations Review and the Journal of Communication in Healthcare, has published numerous articles and book chapters on various aspects of health care public relations. In addition to his writing, he has presented at scholarly conferences, such as the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication and the International Communication Association.  

Before coming to UWF in 2014, he held faculty positions at Florida International University, Quinnipiac University, DePaul University and Southern Methodist University. Wise held public relations executive management positions in the natural resources, gaming, political and medical device manufacturing fields.  

Degrees & Institutions

Wise has bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, and a doctorate degree in public relations from the University of Maryland – College Park.
