Biography

Dr. Renée L. Davis, DNP, APRN, CPNP-PC, is the Executive Director of the School of Nursing in the Usha Kundu, MD College of Health, and an Associate Professor. She is a nationally recognized Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in Primary Care (CPNP-PC) through the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB) and is licensed as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN). Dr. Davis has over 20 years of experience providing pediatric primary care to underserved populations, resulting in positive community impacts for children, adolescents, and families through her local practice and volunteer service. Through these efforts, she has increased access to pediatric care and educated families on health promotion, improving overall pediatric health and well-being.

With nearly two decades of experience in nursing academia, Dr. Davis has expertise in both clinical and didactic teaching across undergraduate and graduate education. Her dedication to excellence has been recognized with prestigious awards, including the Trudy Busch Valentine School of Nursing Daisy Faculty Award (2023), SIUE’s FNP Preceptor of the Year for Pediatrics (2023), and St. Louis Magazine’s Nurse of the Year for Pediatrics (Non-Neonatal) in 2020.

Dr. Davis has made significant contributions to the nursing discipline through research, service, and scholarship. Her research focuses on advancing knowledge and practice in child health and wellness, vitamin D, and obesity prevention and treatment. Her scholarly work includes peer-reviewed publications, pediatric nurse practitioner book chapters, and contributions to Rosdahl’s Basic Nursing textbook and workbook. Dr. Davis has also delivered regional and national presentations, published abstracts, secured grants, served as a journal reviewer, and collaborated with interdisciplinary professional organizations to promote child health and educate healthcare professionals.

Prior to joining UWF, Dr. Davis served as Interim Associate Dean of Undergraduate and Prelicensure Programs and as the Traditional BSN Program Coordinator, Level II, at Saint Louis University’s Trudy Busch Valentine School of Nursing in St. Louis, MO. In these roles, she focused on improving processes, supporting faculty, staff, and students, and efficiently utilizing resources. She contributed to curriculum development, pandemic planning, the integration of a new University CORE education program into the Traditional BSN (TBSN) curriculum, program evaluation, restructuring the Interprofessional Education Program, and accreditation processes. Dr. Davis has also served on national committees, including the NAPNAP Childhood Obesity Special Interest Group, the AACN Faculty Leadership Network (FLN) Webinar Committee, and AACN’s FLN Steering Committee. Additionally, she has completed the AACN’s Elevating Leaders in Academic Nursing program and the Watson initiative.

Dr. Davis earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Master of Science in Nursing with a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner specialty, and Doctorate of Nursing Practice from Saint Louis University in St. Louis, MO.
