Biography
Jacqueline Thomas, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, Associate Professor, teaches in the Family Nurse Practitioner Track.
Before joining the faculty at UWF, Dr. Thomas has over 23 years of experience working as an FNP in a rural community health center, private practice, and public health settings. She has experience as a process leader for a CHC’s health disparities collaboratives, quality improvement manager, certified diabetes educator, director of a patient education program, and co-founder of a community health service organization. Dr. Thomas obtained leadership and management skills as a clinical administrator, health services administrator, and operations officer for a county health department’s clinical services division.
Dr. Thomas received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of North Alabama, a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Alabama in Huntsville, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Her clinical expertise is working with patient populations living with chronic conditions such as HIV, hypertension, and diabetes. Her DNP scholarly project focused on improving cervical cancer screening uptake among women living with HIV through a peer mentorship intervention.
