Biography

Deno Dustin Rolin, MD, DNP, FNP-C, assistant professor, teaches graduate courses for the University of West Florida School of Nursing.

Dr. Rolin completed medical school in 2007.  Instead of entering a residency program, he embarked into academia, quickly realizing his passion for being an educator.  He is a board-certified family nurse practitioner and licensed FL house physician.

He comes to UWF with a diverse background of experience and education.  He has held executive leadership roles including lead faculty area chair for the University of Phoenix, principal for Westlake Preparatory School & Academy, and Director of Nursing for Praseum Healthcare.  He has also served as an associate faculty member for Broward College.

He currently works per diem and has hospital privileges with Emerald Coast Behavioral Hospital in Panama City, FL and CVS Minute Clinic serving the FL panhandle as a family nurse practitioner.  He is a passionate health care provider and educator that enjoys helping others.  He is a native American and a member of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians located in Atmore, AL.  He was born and raised in the Florida panhandle.  His focus in family practice is on proactive healthcare, including the mind, body, and soul.  He also has an interest in improving the quality of health for Native American tribes across the country and creating nurse practitioner residency programs in rural areas.  He is a passionate advocate for the nurse practitioner role.

He has received numerous faculty awards, including the prestigious “Faculty of the Year” award for the University of Phoenix-South FL campus.  His quality improvement project for his DNP involved modifying the guidelines for the treatment of acute sinusitis to avoid “watch and wait” antibiotic prescriptions.

He has a Doctor of Medicine (MD) from St. Mary’s School of Medicine, Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from University of North Florida, Master of Science in Family Studies (MS) from Amberton University, Master of Science in Nursing/FNP (MSN) from Herzing University, Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Western Governors University, and an Associate of Arts (AA) from Pensacola State College.
