Biography
Mr. Taekyoung "Shawn" Kim is dedicated to student success and has received all three teaching awards available at UWF. In 2024, he earned the Student Government Association Distinguished Teaching Award. In 2025, he received the Provost's Faculty Excellence in Teaching Award and the President's Award for Exemplary Online Teaching.
He is interested in learning more about 'mathematical knowledge for teaching' in order to help students gain a conceptual understanding of mathematics. In addition, he focuses on supporting students as they develop their understanding of mathematical ideas.
Mr. Kim earned his Master of Science in Mathematics with specialization in Mathematics Education at Oklahoma State University and he obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics with secondary teaching licensure at Iowa State University.
He enjoys spending time with his family, reading, and surfing.
