Biography
Dr. Mahmoud Elish is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the University of West Florida. Prior to joining UWF, he was a Professor and Head of the Computer Science Department at Gulf University for Science and Technology (GUST), Kuwait. Prior to joining GUST, he was an Associate Professor of Software Engineering in the Information and Computer Science Department at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), Saudi Arabia. Dr. Elish received the Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from George Mason University. His research interests include software metrics, software quality, software maintenance and evolution, software security, empirical software engineering, and computational intelligence in software engineering.
He has published more than 45 articles in peer-reviewed journals and international conferences. His work has received over 1800 citations, and his current h-index is 19 on Google scholar. He has been the principal investigator and Co-PI of several funded research projects. He has also supervised several MSc theses and numerous capstone senior projects. Dr. Elish is an Associate Editor of IEEE Access. He has been also an active reviewer for several prestigious journals and a program committee member of many conferences. He has intensive experience with curriculum development and academic accreditation. Dr. Elish is an ABET Program Evaluator, EAC and CAC. He is an IEEE Senior Member, and a member of ACM.

Research
My research is primarily concerned on assessment, evaluation and improvement of software quality and evolution by the development of effective models, frameworks and the application of computational intelligence. My research interests include software metrics, software quality and security, software maintenance and evolution, empirical software engineering, and computational intelligence in software engineering.
