Fire and Life Safety

UWF places high importance on Fire and Life Safety.

Fire and Life Safety covers fire prevention, protection of lives during emergencies, conducting fire drills, light and fire extinguisher inspections and training.

Every building on campus is checked monthly for working emergency lighting, Exit lights and fire extinguishers by our Environmental Health & Safety staff, as well as Facilities Maintenance. The Housing maintenance team is responsible for residential facilities on campus. Fire and life safety is everyone’s responsibility, however. UWF buildings are inspected annually by a Florida State Fire Marshal and regulated by the Florida Fire Prevention Code (FFPC) and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).
