There is no financial cost associated with participating in the program.
No. All applicants must be enrolled at UWF prior to submitting an application to the program.
No. Once a student is selected to participate in the SSS program, re-application is not required.
No. Current UWF and Transfer students are welcome to apply, however the program will give preference to freshmen and sophomore students.
No. Everyone is required to complete the UWF SSS application process. The application will allow you to list any previous Trio affiliations.
Financial need is based on guidelines published by the U.S. Department of Education. All program participants are required to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The SSS office will work the UWF Financial Aid Office to verify financial need.
A first-generation college student is a student/participant whose parents with whom they permanently reside have not completed a bachelor’s degree or higher.
SSS participants wishing to enter the program are not required to provide documentation to our office, however they must register with the UWF Student Disability Resource Center.
The SSS offices are located in Building # 52 on the University of West Florida campus. Hours of operations are Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm, excluding campus observed holidays and closures.
