The Kugelman Honors Program actively engages in three prestigious Honors conferences each year, offering our students opportunities to showcase their thesis or other original research.
Conference Basics
Conferences serve as platforms to connect with the broader honors community at the state, regional, and national levels. It is an opportunity to gain recognition, exchange knowledge, and open doors to new academic prospects.
At honors conferences, students have the exciting opportunity to exhibit their accomplishments in various honors-related areas, ranging from their impressive theses and research projects to outstanding work completed in honors courses, Honors Council events, or the Honors Living and Learning Community.
Each conference offers various presentation formats, so students can choose the style that best aligns with their strengths and goals. Students may opt for a lecture-style presentation, a visually engaging research poster, or even lead an interactive round table session or workshop.
As honors students near the completion of their time as an undergraduate, they must present their thesis at one of the following platforms: an Honors conference, a conference within their major discipline, or the UWF Student Scholar Symposium, held annually in the spring.
Beyond the thesis presentation, honors students are encouraged to take their scholarly pursuits further by applying to present original research conducted in Honors courses, artwork, or other honors experiences (such as leadership and mentoring) at various conferences. This is an exciting opportunity to broaden their horizons, share their knowledge, and connect with a broader academic community.
