Route It: Receiving a Detour
Routes are detoured when someone in the work process wants information from someone outside of the process or wants to make someone aware of the task being completed. Typically when a route is detoured to you, you receive an email with a link to the route and along with any comments entered by the person who detoured it to you.
Steps:
- In the detour email that you received from Route It, click the View Specific Request link to open the route. When finished reviewing the document, close the window to return to Route It.
- Now use the Route It screen to complete the detour and leave feedback as you see necessary. Enter your feedback in the comments box. By default your comments travel with the route so that everyone else in the route can see your feedback. You can also make your comments private, for your own personal reference, by checking the box at the bottom of the yellow section.
- Now, click one of the three buttons.
- Complete the Detour Task: Indicates that you are finished and provides any comments that you entered above to the person who detoured to you.
- Detour the request: Sends the Route It item to someone else who would not otherwise be involved in the process.
- Save and return to Route List: Does not complete the task, but save any information you entered and adds the Route It item it to your task list to complete later.
