Getting Started with Flexible Route It
Route It is a UWF system for electronically sending documents to one or more people for action. With Flexible Routes, there is not a predefined set of approvers, so you choose who receives the document next, and that person chooses the third person, and so on.
To start a new route...
- In the route form, enter the following:
- A unique name for your route
- The name of the first person who should receive the route
- Upload your document(s)
Click Next.
- On the second page, enter comments for others who will receive the route. You may wish to include specific instructions regarding who the route should be sent to (ex. - "This route needs to be sent to John, Sue, and Chris"). After you click Start Routing, the person you specified on the previous screen will be sent an email message with a link to the route.
When you receive a route for review...
- Click the link in the Route It email.
- Review the attached document(s) and read any comments. The comments may contain instructions about who to send the route to next.
- If someone else needs to receive the route after you, enter the person's name as the Next Recipient.
- Upload additional files and add comments as needed.
- Take the appropriate action:
- Approve: Approve the route and send it to the next person. This option may be grayed out until you enter the name of the Next Recipient.
- Deny: Deny the route.
- Complete: (Route administrators only) Select this option to end the route after everyone has approved. Completing also indicates that you approve the route. This option is grayed if you entered a Next Recipient.
Email notification is sent to the route initiator when the route is completed or denied.
