Daniel R. Lucas, CPA

Biography

Daniel R. Lucas serves as the associate vice president for the Division of University Advancement and chief financial officer for UWF Foundation, Inc. He oversees and manages the budgets for the University Advancement departments.

As CFO for the Foundation, Mr. Lucas oversees the Foundation’s stewardship and acceptance of private gifts and resources from generous donors for the benefit of the University’s mission and vision.

The Foundation responsibilities of Mr. Lucas include management of an investment pool in excess of $120 million, fiduciary responsibilities over UWF housing assets, management of bond debt and rating agency relations.

Mr. Lucas' background includes financial statement audit work beginning in 1998. He was successful in passing four parts of the Uniform Certified Public Accountant Examination in one sitting. In his career in public accounting, he has served a vast array of clients consisting of entrepreneurial companies, not-for-profit organizations, and large governmental entities. His experience includes audits of Broward County, Florida, and the School Board of Broward County, Florida, with KPMG. He brings unique private industry perspectives to University Advancement and the Foundation in its supporting role to the future endeavors of the University of West Florida.

Since becoming part of the team in 2014, Mr. Lucas continues to improve and integrate systems within University Advancement enhancing the efficiency in its role as it supports the University. He has also negotiated the refunding of two bond issues that combined, reduced debt service payments by more than $2.89 million. He is currently working in conjunction with the Office of Financial Aid and multiple University departments to centralize scholarship awarding and systems processing across the campus.
